Exercise, on you own or under help

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Would you go to exercise only when you get obesity or the advice from a doctor? What are you going to do? How are you going to exercise?
For persons who have sickness or physical immobility and wish to restore maximum capability, a physical therapist will aid their needs. Physical therapy or physiotherapy is a health care profession which provides services to individuals, family and community which aims to promote, restore and maintain the maximum movement and functional ability throughout life.
But we can do ourselves to get strong.Whatever exercise you do, starting at a low intensity and building it up over a number of weeks is essential to the longevity of your exercise program. If you start too hard you could get an over-use injury such as shin-splints, and then you’ll have to take time off to get over it.
There are several kinds of exercise we can do without any therapist, such as riding,walking, running, climbing. Take walking for example. Walking is great because it suits all fitness levels. Anyone can start a walking program at any time, it’s just the intensity and duration that differs. Walking is also very social. It’s not hard to find a training partner to chat to while you exercise. This also makes the time go faster.
Benefits from common exercise may be beyond your imagenation. Being physically fit, does not only give you physical satisfaction in life. It brings self confidence; it brings balance and coordination, makes you more productive at work.
However, if you want a quick physical condition through less procedure, you may pick out a personal trainer to help you. Certain criteria should be considered when you’re looking for a therapist:
Firstly, you should have freedom of choice you may go to licensed therapist right away without doctor’s recommendation but for some cases concerning insurance policies you have to visit your physicians first. Secondly,see to it that the person that will provide you the services is a licensed physical therapist and ask if the clinic participate in your insurance company or they will submit claims on your behalf. Thirdly,you can freely choose your appointment and your first appointment must include a general physical assessment to gather information to identify of your present health problem(s) for the establishment of appropriate plan care, goals, intervention and expected outcome of the therapy.

Soul, shakes as the rhythem

Monday, March 30th, 2009

There are several songs classical or popular, which we are fond of. They would come across everywhere at times, as fellows or the enemy we fight with. We would sing it when we are delighted , or sad, or even bored and helpless in living.
It is hard to come across a song that we really like just as make friends in life long. You may hear perfect songs but it is so boring or unfresh that you consider it popular. It doesn’t attract you to remember it forever. But you may like one at random at your first glance immediately.
Among the mind’s powers is one that comes of itself to many children and artists. It need not be lost, to the end of his days, by any one who has ever had it. This is the power of taking delight in a thing, or rather in anything, everything, not as a means to some other end, but just because it is what it is, as the lover dotes on whatever may be the traits of the beloved object. A child in the full health of his mindwill put his hand flat on the summer turf, feel it, and give a little shiver of private glee at the elstic firmness of the globe. He isnt thinkinghow well it will do for some game or to feed sheep upon. That would be the way of the wooer whose mindruns on his mistress’s money. The child’s is sheer affection, the true ecstatic sense of the thing’s inherent characteristics.
Just like that, muisc is a detector that discover the secret feelings deep in our mind. The right education, if we could find it, would work up this creative faculty of delight into all its branching possibilities ofknowledge, wisdom, and nobility. Music and song are ocassional the emissary to search souls as well as its lyrics.
Try looking up Nikhil Parekh’s A Single Heart Beat of Hers. It’s my favorite. It’s really beautiful. Here it is:
A SINGLE HEARTBEAT OF HERS..
A single smile of hers triggered so much magic; that
the entire conglomerate of magicians on this earth;
unitedly failed to evoke,
A single thought of hers perpetuated so much
benevolence; that the entire juggernaut of sagacious
philosophers on this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single wink of hers propelled so much flirtation;
that the entire army of tantalizing seductresses on
this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single tear of hers engendered so much empathy; that
the entire conglomerate of pamperdly wailing children;
unitedly failed to evoke,
A single sound of hers fomented so much melody; that
the entire arena of eclectically talented musicians on
this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single clap of hers produced so much exhilaration;
that the entire zoo of boisterous bees rhapsodically
buzzing on this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single belief of hers spawned so much harmony; that
the entire ocean of baselessly unending religion on
this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single stare of hers evolved so much concentration;
that the entire string of pompously lecherous
meditators on this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single step of hers generated so much enchantment;
that the entire whirlpool of fantasizers on this
earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single swish of hers incinerated so much passion;
that the entire battalion of tantalizing dancers on
this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single shadow of hers instilled so much enigma; that
the entire compendium of fairy tales on this earth;
unitedly failed to evoke,
A single nod of hers incited so much assurance; that
the entire river of promises lingering on this earth;
unitedly failed to evoke,
A single sketch of hers inspired so much artistry;
that the entire flurry of manipulatively greedy
artists on this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single ingredient of her blood motivated so much
life; that the entire jungle of austere antibiotic and
balm on this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single cheek of hers stimulated so much
enthrallment; that the entire blanket of the mystical
valley on this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single palm of hers radiated so much compassion;
that the entire process of contemporarily fast healing
on this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single soul of hers fulminated so much yearning;
that the entire valley of stupendously charismatic
gifts on this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
A single breath of hers spurred so much tenacity;
that the entire fortress of doctors; nurses; patriots;
on this earth; unitedly failed to evoke,
And a single heartbeat of hers inflamed so much love
in my impoverished life; that the entire meadow of
countless opulence; wealth; and belonging on this
earth; unitedly failed to evoke….

Medicines in hair fall

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

We may take medicines first whenever we get ill or uncomfortable. And that’s not an exception when someone get hair fall. Medicines may help slow or prevent the development of common baldness. One medicine, minoxidil (brand name: Rogaine), is available without a prescription. It is applied to the scalp. Both men and women can use it. Another medicine, finasteride (brand name: Propecia) is available with a prescription. It comes in pills and is only for men. It may take up to 6 months before you can tell if one of these medicines is working.
However, every kind of medicine is a double-edged sword. There are some medicines as well which can cause hair loss. You can prevent this if you stop taking those medicines, but after consulting a doctor. More than that medicines that can cause this include blood thinners, also called anticoagulants, medicines for gout problems, medicines used in chemotherapy for cancer, excessive intake of vitamin A, birth control pills & even certain antidepressants.
After all, hair loss may occur as results of different reasons that you may be suffering. It is important to find the cause so that it can be treated since hair loss is usually an early sign of a disease.
Depending on your type of hair loss, treatments are available differently.
You must call for a doctor as soon as possible if a medicine is causing your hair loss. Your doctor may be able to prescribe a different medicine instead. Recognizing and treating an infection may help stop the hair loss. Correcting a hormone imbalance may prevent further hair loss.
But often, male pattern baldness (i.e. receding hairline and a bald patch developing), in men, is linked to me male hormones, androgens. In women, it is unclear whether hormones do play a part. It is often an inherited tendency, especially in women.
After all, disease will surrender soon in front of medicine. The most practical solution to hair loss in male pattern is to take the oral contraceptive pill, Dianette, which blocks the male hormones (androgens) and so can help prevent further hair loss. If you cannot take the pill for some reason (e.g. because you have had a thrombosis) or you prefer not to, you could try minoxidil (Regaine) lotion, available over the counter. You have to keep using it or any hair regrowth tends to fall out again, which can prove very expensive. If you are approaching the menopause then you may want to consider HRT which may halt the process and restore some hair thickness.
This is the lost straw. If adequate treatment is not available for your type of hair loss, you may consider trying different hairstyles or wigs, hairpieces, hair weaves or artificial hair replacement.
A blood test will not tell you much but can let you know whether you are approaching the menopause despite regular periods. If no particular cause is found, advice from a skilled hairdresser is best.
At last there are many commercial sources of help with hair loss problems but you need to be a little sceptical and careful before spending lots of money on untested or unproven wonder cures.

Change Life, Change Ourselves First

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

An English traveler found himself in a northern European country with a little money to buy the ticket for the travel back home. As he knew that it would take him only 2 days to get to England, he found that he would be all right without food. So he bought a ticket and got on the ship. He closed his ears to the lunch bell. When dinner time came,he didn’t go to breakfast and at lunch time he again stayed in his room. At dinner time he was so hungry that he couldn’t stand it any longer.
“I m gonna to eat”,he said,even “if they throw me into the sea.” At dinner he ate everything out in front of him at the table,and waited for the coming trouble. “ Bring me the bill,”he said, “there isnt any bill”,said dthe answer. “on the ship the money for the ticket includes meals”,the waiter said to him.
Its just a fool joke,but I felt fanny in my childhood. Maybe a lot of pleasure has gone when we grow adult. We still grasp everything much tireless, unwilling to cast it to the rubbish bump.
I found it in the cartoon book I owed young. I got calm today when I saw it again. I didn’t laugh the english traveller anymore,because most of us are still such thumbs that we search happiness from an elegant job, more wages,top auto,and so on. But we would find the luck just remains waiting us beside, far away from them referred above.
Just like that, its so easy,to live happily.
Just a change,we could get lucky everyday.

Mining and Environment

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Environment is one of the most controversial issues now days when we are aware of the nature around us perfectly. Mining may cause environmental issues ranging from waste rock and tailing disposal , land disturbance, dust and noise, to water use and pollution. If not managed well, any of these could adversely affect the health and livelihood of the poor and vulnerable groups living near mining operations.
We had hitherto paid scant attention to the protection of the environment. Therefore the question of environmental protection has today become critically important.
The first step for governments to mitigate such risks is to engage relevant communities and groups through information and education, while using the legal and regulatory framework, as well as direct agreements with the mining company, to establish appropriate environmental performance as well as acceptable work conditions. Key to mitigating environmental risks is setting and monitoring appropriate standards.
The mining industry is seriously attempting to develop effective technologies and new processing methods to ensure that the modern mining activities of exploration, planning, operation, and restoration are conducted in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. It is earnestly pursuing research activities oriented toward the safe and responsible use of our mineral resources.
There are several ways in which mining companies can take steps to safeguard the environment. Mining companies would have to re-examine their own mining operations.
There are also forest and nature conservation projects. The project aims to increase the capacity of the Ministries of Forests and Nature Conservation and the collaboration among government institutions, civil society and other stakeholders to manage forests sustainably and equitably for multiple uses in selected pilot areas of DRC. At the same time, the project will test community-based approaches for managing forests holistically in ways that benefit forest and indigenous populations, the local and national economy, and the global environment.

Safe limit of wine, unsuitable for women now

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Suitable amout of wine regularly benefits us in health. But now women are excluded first. Their chance of developing liver or rectal cancer increases by the same amount, the survey of more than a million middle-aged women found.
If a woman who drinks three units of alcohol a day also smokes she suffers a similar rise in her risk for oral and throat cancers. And her likelihood of developing any cancer goes up by an eighth. It calls into question the Government’s safe drinking limit of ‘two to three’ units a day for women.
There are around three units of alcohol in a large glass of wine. One unit is equivalent to half a pint of beer or a single measure of spirits.
The research found that the average woman drank a unit a day and had just under a 12 per cent chance of developing one of the five cancers up to the age of 75.
Each extra unit she drank a day gave her 13 per cent more risk. Drinking three units a day, equal to a large glass of wine, increased her overall risk to nearly 15 per cent - 25 per cent higher than that of a moderate drinker.
It made no difference what type of alcohol was consumed, whether beer, wine or spirit.
Study leader Dr Naomi Allen, of Oxford University’s cancer epidemiology unit, said: ‘These findings suggest that even relatively low levels of drinking - about one or two alcoholic drinks every day - increase a woman’s risk of developing cancer of the breast, liver and rectum; and in smokers, cancers of the mouth and throat.’
The increase in risk was found to vary by cancer. Dr Allen said one extra unit put up the risk of breast cancer by 12 per cent, rectal cancer by 10 per cent, liver cancer by 24 per cent, mouth and throat cancers in smokers by 25 per cent, and the risk for all cancers by 6 per cent.
She said it had not been possible to estimate the risk for a teetotaller, because the data did not show whether a woman had never drunk or had stopped for a time.
The findings suggest Britain faces a spike in such cancers in the future, as figures show that women now drink around 50 per cent more alcohol than they did in 1998.
It is estimated that about 5,000 cases of breast cancer, around 11 per cent of the total diagnosed each year, can be put down to consumption of alcohol.
‘We know that too much alcohol increases the risk of a number of cancers. This latest study shows that even relatively low levels of drinking increase a woman’s risk.’ Spokesman Sara Hiom said.
‘Cancer Research UK recommends that the more you cut down on alcohol, the more you reduce your cancer risk.’
‘It has to be put in the context that alcohol consumption is only one factor in most common cancers, but the important message is that cutting down from any level of drinking reduces that cancer risk.’
A Department of Health spokesman said: ‘We keep our guidance on sensible drinking under review. We currently advise on a lower risk drinking limit as drinking above this level could be harmful.
‘There is no completely safe level of drinking but this lower level reflects known health risks including breast cancer, which is partly why there is a lower drinking limit for women. ‘We look forward to examining this research in more detail.’

Long-hours working puts us at higher risk of dementia

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Have you ever pay attention to your hard long working hours? May it be just curious worry or boredom. Indeed, it is right since it could put us at risk of dementia.
Middle-age workers doing more than 55 hours a week have poorer mental skills, including short-term memory and ability to recall words, than those clocking up fewer than 41 hours, a study has found.
The stress and exhaustion of long hours could be as bad for the brain as smoking, concluded the study.
Britain has some of the longest working hours in Europe, with one in eight doing more than 48 hours a week.
Many claim to thrive on the stress and long hours of demanding jobs.
But the study of 2,214 British civil servants, published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, suggests they are underestimating the long-term damage they could be doing to their brains.
Some 39 per cent worked fewer than 40 hours a week, 53 per cent between 41 to 55 hours and eight per cent more than 55.
In their early 50s, they were put through a series of brain function tests. Those doing the most overtime recorded lower scores in two of the five key brain function tests - reasoning and vocabulary.
The researchers said: ‘This study shows that long working hours may have a negative effect on cognitive performance in middle age.
‘The link between cognitive impairment and dementia later in life is clearly established.
‘The difference between employees working long hours and those working normal hours is similar in magnitude to that of smoking, a risk factor for dementia.’
Working long hours obviously makes you very tired. If you do that on a consistent basis it’s going to affect your brain function.
‘Long hours are not just bad for health, they are also bad for your performance.’

Postwar Iraq: a rottening apple

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

People went on a march in L.A. to protest the Iraq war, crying out to pull out overall. They warn the gov. that we should concentrate on the ec. Depression, not struggling in the mud of war against nothing but racial hatred.
It is a pity that this is only an one-side claim. They doesn’t know the real purpose of Washington. Subsequently they wouldn’t get a certain answer possibly, although there wasn’t any nuclear weapon they intended to found.
Of course they brought a large amount of oil which we have to pay for to lead our life. But now we found that we have paid too much to afford. We need a change, and the post war country. We were acknowledged that various plans were being put into practice, but traveling Iraq for two weeks in the first organized tour since 2003 wasn’t quite all they had hoped, what with the hours wasted at checkpoints, and visits cut short or scrapped altogether because of security concerns.
The journey, scheduled to end Sunday after a tour of the ancient ruins of Babylon, gave the travelers a taste of the hardships facing Iraqis as they emerge from war, ranging from electricity shortages to traffic jams to the overwhelming presence of U.S. and Iraqi security forces.
“There were various sites that we couldn’t get to because we were told they were too dangerous or because they were occupied by the Iraqi military,” said Geoff Hann, the British managing director of Hinterland Travel.
It depends on the friends. It wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea. It would has been another feeling if some one else had got the tour. “For starters, there’s no coffee, there’s no alcohol, if you’re a woman you’ve got to wear a headscarf, and the plumbing isn’t brilliant,” a woman tourist said, not even mentioning the risk of being kidnapped by militants or blown up by a roadside bomb.
However Iraqi tourism officials hope visit will herald a new era of antiquities tourism in a country known as the cradle of civilization and which gave birth to such milestones of development as writing, codified law, the wheel and agriculture.But As violence falls to lows not seen since mid-2003, Iraq is banking on tourism as a sector that will help it rebuild after years of bloodshed and rife kidnapping drove Westerners away.
Yes, there wouldn’t come back the security, if people of Iraq doesn’t lead a good life. But there wouldn’t be income for good living without security,either. The gov. must cut down this worsening cycle.

The history of horse racing

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

The competitive racing of horses is one of humankind’s most ancient sports,having its origins among the prehistoric nomadic trivesmen of Central Asia who first domesticated the horse about 4500BC, for thousands of years, horse racing flourished as the sport of kings and nobility. Modern racing, however, exists primarily because it is a major venue for legalized gambling.
Horse racing is the 2nd most widely attended U.S.spectator sport, after baseball. In 1989,about 56 m people attended 8004 days of racing,wagering $9.14b. horse racing is also a major professional sport in Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Western Europe, Austalia, New Zealand, South Africa, and South America.
By far the most popular form of the sport is the racingof monted Thoroughbred horses over flat courses at distances from three-quarters of a mile to two miles. Other major forms of horse racing are harness racing ,steeplechase racing and Quarter horse racing.
By the time humans began to keep written records horse racing was an organized sport n all major civilizations from Central Asia to the Mediterranean. Both chariot and mounted horse racing wereevents in the ancient Greel Olympics by 638 BC., and the sport became a public obsession in the Roma Empire.
The original of modern racing ie in the 12th century,when English knights returned from the Crusades with swift Arab horses. Over the nest 400ys.an increasing number of Arab stallions were imported and bred to English mares to produce horses that combined speed and endurance. Matching the fastest of these animals in two-horse races for a private wager became a popular diversion of the nobility.
Horse racing began to become a professional sport during the reign of Queen Anne, when match racing gave way to races involving several horses oon which the spedtators wagered. Racecourses sprang up all over England, offerig increasingly large purses to attract the best horses. These purese in turn made breeding and owning horses for racing profitavle. With the rapid expansion of the sport came the need for a central governing authority. In 1750 racings elite met at Newmarket to form the Jokey Club, which t this day exercises complete control over English racing.
The Jockey Club wrote complete rules of racingand sanctioned racecourses to conduct meetings under those rules. It also took steps to regulate the breeding of racehorses. James was assigned the task of tracing the pedigree,or complete family history, of every horse racing in England. In 1791 the results of hos research were published as the introduction to the General Stud Book. By the early 1800s the lnly horses that could be called “thoroughbreds” and allowed to race were those descended from horses listed in the General Stud Book. Thoroughbreds are so inbred that the pedigree of every single animal can be traced badk father-to-father to one of three stallions, called the “foundation sires.” These stallions were the Byerley Turk, foaled c.1679; the Darley Arabian,foaled c.1700; and the Godolphin Arabian, foaled c.1724.

Flooding:The Return of the King

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Every summer,here comes floods in many contries,mountains,and plains,and so on.Human beings appear to live in tides and odds then.
Obviously,climate has an important influence on the relationship between precipitation and runoff. Floods are usually triggered by heavy rainfall. Frost makes most soil impenetrable if the soil contains moisture. Weather patterns determine the amount and location of rain and snowfall. Unfortunately the amount and time over which precipitation occurs is not constant for any given area. Overall, the water cycle is a balanced system. But sometimes the amount flowing in to one area is greater than the capacity of the system to hold it within natural confines. The result is a flood. Combinations of factors along with exceptional precipitation can also lead to flooding. For example, heavy snow melts, water saturated ground, unusually high tides, and drainage modifications when combined with heavy rain can lead to flooding.A flood hydrograph shows the change in river discharge over a period of time after a storm.Although the short-term impact of floods can be catastrophic, they can have positive long term effects as well, for example boosting soil fertility.
More than that,the territory is a vital factor for the birth of flood. Such as a steep-sided channel,a lack of vegetation or woodland,a drainage basin consisting of mainly impermeable rock,what affects the tide includes all the structure of moutains,the channals.
Moreover,during a rainstorm, the amount, intensity, duration, area of storm, and path of the storm, all influence the runoff reaching the stream. The amount, intensity, and duration of storms affect the ability of the land to absorb the precipitation and therefore affect the rate of runoff. The area and path of the storm relate to the area of the basin receiving rainfall, which in turn, represents the area contributing runoff. The area and the runoff rate determine the volume of water that will pass a given point downstream.
All in all,during a rainstorm, the amount, intensity, duration, area of storm, and path of the storm, all influence the runoff reaching the stream and the ability of the land to absorb the precipitation and therefore affect the rate of runoff. Steps can be taken to manage flooding.Flood management techniques can be divided into hard and soft engineering options.’Hard’ options tend to be more expensive and have a greater impact on the river and the surrounding landscape. ‘Soft’ options are more ecologically sensitive. The tables summarise the main flood management techniques.
All-round measures should be taken into practice,since the many causes of flooding work out in combination.
